 buildings were created with bricks and mud with the use of stone tools in the Neolithic time period with

They decided what to use by what was strongest and what materials they had avalible to them at the time.

5.     Give two examples of vernacular architecture.
Gothic Revival,

jungle huts made from mud and straw

6.     Name and describe the type of system used to create many early buildings.

Slave labor was used to create buildings and they did so by making them work without rights
7.     What was the purpose of the Egyptian pyramids? Mexican pyramids?

they were tomes for important people like rulers to get buried in as their final resting place
8.     What kind of construction method was used to build the Parthenon? Made a simple sketch to illustrate.

the Parthenon was constructed using post and lintel construction

9.     What problem in architecture led to this form of construction?

10. Explain how an arch is created.

Arches are created with blocks and are placed in a curved formation in such a way that they give each other support
11.  How is the vault used in civil engineering?

Vaults allow for the construction of bridges, walkways, and other passages
12.  Give an example of an arch and dome system.

13.  Give an example of a modern material we have that was not available to the ancients. How did this restrict construction in ancient times?

Steel is one of the most used materials in todays architecture, it restricted construction back then because they were not able to build structures quite as tall or as sturdy.
14.  What was the purpose of the Roman aqueducts?

The aquaducts were used in Roman to transport water all around the city
15.  Compare ancient Greek roads to ancient Roman roads.

Greek roads were made of mainly dirt and used for transporting goods, Roman roads were made from stone and went across bridges and mainly used for transporting troops.
16. Describe an ancient Roman bridge.

They were the first large and lasting bridges built, these bridges were built with stone and had the arch as its basic structure, also utilized concrete as well.
17. How did building materials and methods change after the Romans?

People learned from the Romans and applied that to making better buildings, roads, bridges, and other things, so the Romans inspired the great stuff we have today because of the arches they made and the roads and also bridges.
Conclusion

1.     Give an example of a modern pyramid not shown in the presentation. How does its function differ from that of the Egyptian pyramids? What do you think accounts for this difference?

The Hotel of Doom in North Korea is an example of a modern day pyramid that was never completed, its intent was to be lived in by hundreds of people insted of dead people, the fact that it was made to live it initially.
2.     Give an example of a modern structure that uses an arch and dome system.

3.     What is the main purpose of modern roads? How is the cost of modern roadways defrayed?

The main reason for roads now is transportation of any kind, the toll roads they have and tax revenues which we have to pay in order to fund the roads.
